One major flaw of Sleepover is the writing itself. Keep that in mind when deciding if this is worth a purchase. Sleepover is strictly a visual novel in which you can slightly change the outcome of some situations, and greatly change some. Outside of picking Kano’s responses and choices, there is no other signs of a playable game. You eventually have to choose tank top, which sort of takes the whole choose-your-own adventure aspect out of the game. If you choose the first two, Kano just tells you that’s not good enough. Your choices are either pajamas, a jacket, or a tank top. When Aki is changing into a new pair of dry clothes after being soaked from the rain, you’re given the choice to tell Aki what to wear. One annoying thing about the choices was that some are made for you. It doesn’t take long for you to start realizing that Kano is sort of a creep. I’m talking choices that will make you blush, even before the lewd sex scenes at the end (if you purchased the uncensored version). The last level is a total disregard for boundaries. The next is somewhat insinuating, but vague. The first is what a normal person might say in that situation. Most choices that are presented to you have three levels to them. You’ll control the choices of Kano as he navigates professing his love his best friend.

Having no ability to get home in the storm, Aki makes the decision to sleep over Kano’s house, thus starting a chain of events that would change their relationship forever. When they leave the arcade, a rainstorm quickly approaches and they find themselves stuck in it. This only strengthens his belief that there might be something more between them. You can tell Kano really appreciates the care Aki puts into their relationship. In the arcade, he needs to remind Kano to eat as he hadn’t eaten all day. This is evident in how Kano reacts to seeing Aki at the arcade at the very start of the game.Īki on the other hand, seems to look at Kano as a younger brother. Opposite of Kano, Aki comes off as rigid and stoneface, but seems much more responsible. Kano is on his way to meet with his best friend, Sato Hideaki (Aki), at the arcade, where they plan to play games and hang out. It certainly paints a picture of him as the instigator in this story, but more on that later. You’ll see that many of his choices in the game are brash or too forthcoming. It’s not every day you get to play a game where the sole purpose is to watch two best friend’s fumble around their feelings for one another. But what happens when your best friend is your crush?
